Atlas of Rhapsody on the Luo River Goddess by @ruozhe is an ongoing series initiated in 2023, based on Cao Zhi’s classical poem Rhapsody on the Goddess of the Luo River. The poem’s original binary: between the observing “I” and the divine Goddess is collapsed in Ruozhe’s paintings into a doubled figure, transforming the relationship into a confrontation of self with self, or Goddess facing Goddess.

This duplication suspends narrative progression in favor of synchronic time, a core principle in the artist’s work, where subject and object hover yet dissolve.
