Aquae Mirabiles, first presented at Milan Design Week in April, has been reinterpreted for the @buccellatimilan Buccellati Paris boutique.

Conceived by @balichwonderstudio Balich Wonder Studio, curated by @lafedesss Federica Sala, and developed with @lukeedwardhall Luke Edward Hall.

Water is the unifying element, the microsphere motif the thread running through it.

In conversation with @gabrieloshea Gabriel O’Shea, following Threni, his first museum exhibition, at the Museo de la Ciudad de Querétaro, a building that has been a convent, a prison, and a museum. In that order.

The work deals with crucifixions, wounds, chains, bodies that are never quite identifiable. What holds it together is not a subject so much as a condition: the sense that something has already been damaged, and that life is continuing as though it hadn’t.

We met him shortly after the exhibition came down. On lament, decay as the visibility of time, and why he places religious bodies on the floor rather than above the viewer.

In dialogue with Rune Brink @runebrink

FVTVRIST met Rune Brink, a Copenhagen-based artist whose work moves between light installation, scenography, and pixelated 3D animation, drawn together by a long-standing interest in the uncanny life of machines and in what they might be said to know.

« I’ve always been inspired by the ancient idea that we humans are connected on a deeper level. When I started reading Roger Penrose and his proposed Orch-OR theory in *The Emperor’s New Mind*, where he argues that there might be more to consciousness than mathematics, it instantly connected the dots for me. I still tend to believe that consciousness in living organisms is something other than what we see emerging in large language models, for example. »

Fvtvrist met Alejandro Javaloyas following Un cuchillo que no corta at Galería Reus @galeriareus in Palma, and ahead of his solo exhibition opening 18 December at Sa Refinadora, the public gallery in Marratxí.

“Un cuchillo que no corta is actually the title of a poem I wrote long before I started this body of work. The poem also came from a nightmare, and it is structured almost like an inventory of things that have lost the function that defines them: a knife that doesn’t cut, an eclipse that doesn’t obscure, a gun that doesn’t kill, a key that doesn’t open, a medicine that doesn’t cure.

It begins with very concrete, almost domestic objects, but gradually moves outward and becomes more existential and spiritual. Toward the end, the language shifts into religion: the Virgin who doesn’t ascend, in a church that doesn’t gather; the angel who doesn’t announce; a miracle that doesn’t happen.

And then it ends with the line: El alma que no es eterna — the soul that isn’t eternal.”

A garden built indoors. Shoes come off at the door, and the floor gives underfoot, purple and undulating, under dimmed light and a low haze. Contact produces sound. Every movement enters the acoustic ecology and alters it. The work registers each visitor as material.

Janice Laujan takes the title literally. Remembering functions as a social mechanism, regressive and ecstatic at once, and the exhibition holds the position that difficult recollection can be inhabited rather than closed. Shame and grief usually stay private. Here they are given architecture.

Performing bodies move through as living sculptures, following their own logic against the landscape. Nerve, Karen Yu, Gold Mountain and Kelvin T lead hour-long interventions at fixed moments in an otherwise continuous run.
